The Famous French Collection
Gustave Eiffel built bridges for the French railway network. Then he built the internal structure of the Statue of Liberty. Then he built a tower for the 1889 Paris World's Fair that was supposed to be temporary.
It is still there.
He was born Alexandre Gustave Bonickhausen. He adopted his mother's maiden name, Eiffel, early in his career. Did you know?
