The Unstoppable Collection
Born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1939, she is best known for refusing, at the age of 15, to give up her seat on a bus to a white woman in 1955. Her role in the civil rights movement, long overshadowed by that of Rosa Parks, is now being re-evaluated and valorized.
She said:
"I feel like what I did was a spark and it gained momentum: "I'm not disappointed. Tell people that Rosa Parks was the right person for the boycott. But also say that the lawyers took four other women to the Supreme Court to challenge the law that led to the end of segregation.
