Rosy and Maria fled Salardu, Spain, in the 1930s, war on one side, poverty on the other.

They landed in Toulouse and opened a salon. The word spread fast.

By 1943 they were in Paris, on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, doing the hair of royalty and anyone who mattered. Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome followed. They called themselves "entrepreneurs of beauty" - which is accurate, and also modest. They opened the profession to women, trained a generation of stylists, and built a holistic approach to beauty before the word holistic existed.

Carita, by the way, means beauty and charity. They lived up to both.
