Celebrities of Occitanie Collection
The Carita sisters, Rosy and Mary, fled Salardu, Spain, in the 1930s to escape war and poverty. They opened a salon in Toulouse, quickly gaining a reputation for luxury. In 1943, they moved to Paris, opening a landmark salon in haute coiffure. By the 1950s and 1970s, their salon on rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré attracted royalty and celebrities. They pioneered a holistic beauty approach and expanded to Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, and Rome.
The sisters really opened the hairdressing profession to women and trained many stylists, including Jean Marc Maniatis and Raffel Pages, leaving a lasting impact on the beauty industry.
The Carita sisters called themselves the “beauty contractors” but did you know that Carita means beauty and charity?
