His notable contributions to the architecture of the Château de Versailles include the design and construction of the King's and Queen's State Apartments, as well as the emblematic white stone facade on the garden side. Louis Le Vau's greatest work, however, remains the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte.

Despite its renowned craftsmen, Versailles suffered from many defects. The artisans, driven by Louis XIV's demand for speed and Colbert's financial constraints, compromised on quality. Yet, despite initial reservations, Versailles has been meticulously restored and endures the passage of time.
